It´s Sunday again, time for some cupcakes and a hot bowl of cafe au lait :). But I also finished the owl banks project and even decided, which one should stay with us and which one should be for sale:
We´ll keep the brown one, since the nusery has a lot of light green already and I didn´t want to have it completely green. It´s looking good beside the baby bed, now I only need a name for it.
The green one you will find in my Dawanda shop tomorrow latest.

Es ist wieder Sonntag und mal wieder Zeit für ein paar leckere Cupcakes und eine schöne große Schale Milchcafé. Allerdings habe ich nebenbei auch das Eulenspardosen Projekt fertigstellen können. Auch eine Entscheidung, wer von den Beiden bei uns bleiben darf und wer verkauft wird, konnten wir fällen:
Wie werden die braune Eule behalten, da im Kinderbereich schon sehr viele hellgrüne Details vorkommen und ich keine komplett grüne Ecke haben möchte. Ich finde, das Eulchen macht sich neben dem Kinderbettchen prima :). Jetzt brauchen wir nur noch einen Namen für das Tierchen.

That´s how far I got today: both birdies are almost ready. The last step remaining is varnishing the banks tomorrow, when the color has dried completely.

I`m just not sure by now, which one I should keep for the baby and which one will be for sale? We´ll see ;).

Soweit bin ich heute gekommen: Beide Vögelchen sind fast fertig. Morgen müssen sie eigentlich nur noch lackiert werden sobald die Farbe vollständig getrocknet ist.
Ich konnte mich bisher nur noch nicht entscheiden, welchen der beiden ich für das Baby behalten will und welchen ich verkaufen werde? Naja, wir werden sehen ;)

Work in Progress: Eulen-Spardosen/ Owl banks

The Idea: Take the piggy-bank and make some other animals. Since owls seems to be everywhere this fall, I decided to try them first.
It´s the almost same as making the blank for the piggy bank. Just fitting the owls ears, beak and feet needed a little time and reconsideration. I finally went for some cardboard, which, cut in triangles for ear and feet and a sqare for the beak. I also put way more layers on the owls as I have done with the piggies, because I recalled, that painting them was difficult back then, because they had been a little soft. First layer of color is on them by now; that´s how they look like at the moment:
I will paint the 2nd layer tonight, that should finish the basic painting. The more detailed work will take place during the weekend.

Die Idee: Man nehme das Sparschweinchen und bastle einfach andere Tiere nach dieser Anleitung. Da in diesem Herbst überall Eulen rumzuschwirren scheinen, dachte ich mir, ich versuch´s als Erstes mal mit ihnen.
Das Herstellen der Rohlinge funktioniert fast genauso wie beim Sparschwein. Lediglich das Anpassen der Eulenohren, Schnäbel und Krallen benötigte etwas Zeit und musste überdacht werden. Schließlich habe ich für Ohren und Krallen Dreiecke aus Karton zugeschnitten, den Schnabel bildet nun ein Drachenförmiges Viereck. Ich habe außerdem wesentlich mehr Schichten Papier auf die Rohlinge geklebt, als bei den Schweinchen, denn ich meine mich zu erinnern, dass, weil sie recht weich waren, das Anmalen der Schweinchen damals etwas umständlich war.
Mittlerweile ist die erste Farbschicht auf den Eulen und trocknet; so sehen die beiden im Augenblick aus:

Heute abend kommt noch der zweite Anstrich und am Wochenende folgen die Feinarbeiten.

Rosenkohl-Kartoffel-Gratin /Sprouts-Potato Gratin

As promised, I share the recipe now. Typically us, we ate the complete gratin before I even gould take a picture of it ;) )

To get a gratin that serves 4 normal or 2 pregnant and extremely hoggish people you´ll need:

500g fresh sprouts (or 400g frozen ones)
6-7 potatoes (midsized, waxy)
1 Knackwurst (found at German butcheries I guess) or 200 g melted meat, salted and spiced
5-6 small tomatoes (Cherry or cocktail)
grating cheese as favoured
flour,butter, milk, vegetable stock, salt, pepper, nutmeg if you want to make the bechamelsauce yourself, or just take ready-made sauce(appr. 300 ml needed)
Salt
Pepper
Nutmeg

How to:
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C (392F)
If you want to make your own sauce, you should start with this. A simple recipe can be found here.
Peel the potatoes and pre-cook untill they are nearly done, peel the sprouts, cut them at their stems crosswise and blanch them (or unfreeze the frozen sprouts. Cut teh sausage in appr. 1cm thick slices, quater the tomatoes. Cut potatoes in slices as well. Put the sausage and vegetables in a greased baking dish, spice with salt, pepper and nutmeg and cover with the sauce and spread the cheese over the gratin. bake until the cheese is golden (appr. 20 minutes.

Wie versprochen, hier das Rezept: (NATÜRLICH haben wir alles aufgegessen, bevor ich Depp ein Foto gemacht hatte ;) ):

Für einen Auflauf, der 4 normale oder 2 schwangere/extrem verfressene Personen glücklich macht, braucht Ihr:
500g frischen Rosenkohl oder 400 g TK Rosenkohl
6-7 mittelgroße Kartoffeln (festkochend)
1 Knackwurst (zu finden bei der Dauerwurst im Supermarkt)
5-6 Chery-Strauchtomaten oder andere, kleinere Tomaten
Geriebenen Käse nach Belieben
Mehl, Butter, Brühe, Milch, Salz, Pfefer, Muskat für die Bechamelsauce (oder einfach fertige Bechamelsauce nehmen z.b. bei Lidl zu finden)
Salz, Pfeffer, Muskat

Und so geht´s:
Backofen auf 200°C vorheizen.

Wer die Sauce selbst machen möchte, sollte das zuerst tun, da sie Aufmerksamkeit fordert.
Eine einfache Anleitung findet Ihr hier.
Kartoffeln schälen und soweit vorkochen, dass sie noch nicht ganz gar sind. Rosenkohl putzen (Tipp: am Stielansatz kreuzweise einschneiden) und blanchieren (oder auftauen ;) ),
Knackwurst ind ca. 1 cm dicke Scheiben schneiden, die Tomaten vierteln. Abgekühlte Kartoffeln in Scheiben schneiden, zusammen mit Rosenkohl,
Wurst und Tomaten in eine gefettete Auflaufform geben, mit Salz, Pfefer und Muskat würzen, Bechamelsauce gleichmäßig darüber verteilen und den
Käse darüber verteilen. ca. 20 Minuten überbacken.

new name, old label

I´m back again, lots of things have happened in the past few weeks. We had no internet till monday, so it was not possible to keep you updated.
1st of all I should tell why did I change the name of the label...

For a very sentimental and sad reason: on Friday 2 weeks ago, our beloved furball "panpan" suddenly and completely unexpected passed away after suffering totaly organ failure. She only was 10 years old and even in the afternoon she looked and appeared healty and normal. My only comfort was, that she did not need to suffer for long. So, it mainly is to honour her cuteness and the 7 years full of joy, hairballs, making "Gaff GAff" sound, because she neverhad learned how to mew and all cuddeling she had given us. She really was a gift and I miss her like hell! See the video for how she looked and how cute she was:

One other reason fo changing the lable´s name is, that my favor and style changed and still changes a lot, so that the darker side of me still is there, but not in front anymore. I´m not that chaotic anymore (at least I hope so ;) ), so lets change the label as well.

Not only sad things happened during the last weeks: the biggest news is, that we´re expecting a litle new family member in December. I´m preggie and by now everything looks fine. I even have started to gain weight (unfortunetely even before I knew why) and needed to buy some maternity jeans, cause my belly did not fit into my old ones anymore.

So the upcoming sewing projects will probably be all about maternity and baby stuff, like belly belts, diaper bas (need to shoe you the one I allready made for Tascha) and so on.

Next week after 5 weeks of waiting, calling the hotline and so on, we will finally get our new kitchen. The living room and the hall are lumbered with all the parts of it. We were so desperate, that we allready use the build-in fridge still standing in its foam boxing. But its way too expensive to buy everithing fresh and throw it away the next day, because you have no cooling thingy running. I wash the dishes in the basement by now, we dont have an oven or a stove, all my cooking happens in a micorwave or outside using a grill. That totally sucks and I so hope, that next wednesday when I´ll come home from work I´ll be able to cook a complete meal in a propper functioning kitchen, which is my own. I´ll keep you updated on that ;)

Well, you see, I´m sitting here, now a citizen of our capitol Berlin, without my little furball, the "Schnuffer", but still with enough good stuff to look forward to.

Da bin ich wieder, es ist (wie üblich) einiges passiert in den vergangenen Wochen. Leider haben wir erst seit kurzem wieder regelmäßig Internet, deshalb konnte ich Euch nicht auf dem Laufenden halten.

Zuerst will ich die Frage beantworten, weshalb ich das Label nach 12 Jahren plötzlich umbenannt habe:

Aus einem sehr sentimentalen und traurigen Grund: Am Freitagabend vorletzter Woche ist unser geliebtes Fellknäuel PanPan (eigentlich "Baltimore´s Pandora") vollkommen unerwartet an Organversagen gestorben. Sie war gerade einmal 10 Jahre alt und noch am Nachmittag benahm sie sich vollkommen normal und wirkte gesund. Mein einziger Trost ist, dass sie nicht lang leiden musste. Deshalb dient der neue Name hauptsächlich der Erinnerung an ihre absolute Einmaligkeit und die wunderbaren 7 Jahre, die wir mit ihr erleben durften, all die Freude, Haarbüschel überall; die Gaff-Gaff Geräusche, weil sie nicht mauzen konnte und ihre Verschmustheit. Sie war ein wahres Geschenk und ich vermisse sie unglaublich! Hier mal ein kleines Video, wie niedlich sie war und wie sie zu Lebzeiten so drauf war:

Doch zurück zum Label.

Ein weiterer Grund, den Namen nach 12 Jahren doch noch zu ändern ist, dass mein Gescmack und der Stil meiner Entwürfe sich weiter entwickelt hat. Das Düstere steht nicht mehr so sehr im Vordergrund, ist aber auch nicht vollkommen verschwunden. Obendrein glaube ich allen Ernstes, nicht mehr ganz so chaotisch zu sein, wie früher, also kommt die Änderung jetzt einfach mal :).

Aber es sind nicht nur traurige Dinge passiert. Die wahrscheinlich größte Neuigkeit ist, dass wir Familienzuwachs erwarten, wahrscheinlich im Dezember. Jupp, ich bin schwanger und bisher sieht alles gut aus. Leider habe ich auch bereits ordentlich zugenommen, noch ehe ich überhaupt den Grund dafür wußte ;). Mittlerweile musste ich mir sogar schon Umstands-Jeans kaufen, weil ich in meine Alten nicht mehr rein kam.

Also dürften sich die kommenden Projekte hauptsächlich um Umstandsklamotten und Babyzeug drehen, z.B. Bauch Bänder, Windeltaschen und so weiter. (Oh, ich sollte mal endlich die Fotos von der Tasche hochladen, die ich für Tascha gemacht hab...).

Nächste Woche, nach sage und schreibe 5 Wochen warten und immer wieder Hotline anrufen wird endlich unsere neue Küche aufgebaut. Im gesamten Erdgeschoss stehen halb fertige Küchenmöbel und Geräte rum; wir waren sogar schon so verzweifelt, dass wir den Einbau-Kühlschran noch in seiner Styroporverpackung angeschlossen haben, nur um eine Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeit für das Essen zu haben. Es ist einfach viel zu teuer, jeden Tag alles frisch kaufen und am nächsten Tag dann wegschmeißen zu müssen. Das geht einfach nicht. Geschirrspülen muss ich momentan im Keller, in der Waschküche, wir können nicht richtig kochen; seit wir eingezogen sind kann ich nur entweder die Mikrowelle oder draußen den Grill nutzen, um was Warmes zu machen. Das geht mir ziemlich auf die Nerven und ich kann´s kaum noch erwarten, endlich meinen Herd und meinen BAckofen nutzen zu können! Also hoffe ich inständig, dass ich am kommenden Mittwoch, wenn ich von der Arbeit komme, eine voll funktionstüchtige Küche vorfinde. Ich halt Euch darüber auf dem Laufenden.

Nun ja, Ihr seht, da sitz ich nun, Neu-Bürger unserer schönen Hauptstadt Berlin, allein, ohne mein Fellknäuel, den Schnuffer, dafü aber zum Glück mit jeder Menge anderen Kram, auf den ich mich freuen kann.

It´s looking good so far. We arrived here 4 weeks ago, I already have found a house for rent, and since last monday I´m also working in the new Center. I don´t have my sewing machine with me, so evenings are little boring here sometimes, not at last because of a sometimes difficult and slow internet connection.

I started planing the new kitchen, but this is a little stupid and useless, because I don´t know the exact measures of the room by now. I hope, we´ll have the keys soon and I can make exact plans. For the moment we´d like to go for a kitchen by IKEA, something like this:
Don´t be irritated by the red wall ;), our new kitchen has white ones and a light grey tile paneling. I want the oven to be stored high in a cabinet. As countertop we´ll go with a walnut effect; the sink will be something like Domsjö, the faucet will be Edsvik, both as shown in the sample kitchen above. I hope at the end we will see some kind of romantic steampunk-cottage style, if something like this exists ;). I still have some antique pharmacy bottles and glases, which will, carefully cleaned of course, contain my tiny collection of herbs and spices. Together with the rest of my collection I´m sure this will look great :). As colors I choose a light shamrock green, the same grey as on the tiles, walnut and cast iron black, which will come from the handles, knobs, kitchen crown and most of the other acccessories. I can´t wait to start shopping :). But, as I said, we have to be patient and .wait for the keys. So we should bridge the time gap with some first pics of the new house:

We have brought Panni here last week, since she didn´t seem to fit in my sister in law´s cat family that well. Here with us she seems to feel good again, having her humans around seems to make a little difference.
