A Photo A Day - Week 4 / Woche 4

Last week was a busy one. With hubby on a buiseness trip and me alone with our boys, time for this project was short. But now I can present my pictures for last week:

Glücksfunde / Happy Findings

Was man beim Wochenendeinkauf im Supermarkt so findet...

Amazing, what one can find during weekend´s grocery shopping at ones super market:

copyright: MARTHA STEWART LIVING OMNIMEDIA

The 1st issue of the GERMAN MARTHA STEWART LIVING! Very, very nice! Finally this lovely mag made it across the the big sea and to Germany! I also think 3,90 € is a good price for it as well, since the imported american MS Living mag costs way more. I´m very happy about this find!

Gartenplanung im Zeichenprogramm / plan your garden using a graphics progam

Over the last few winters I usually tried to plan my garden using the old notebook-drawing method. Of course, the occasional plant got lost during me trying to capture all plants allready in the soil or I miscalculated the space I would have for new plants. Now I figured out that it can be much easier, simply by taking a digital photo of the bed you want to plan and using a graphics program for the actual planning, in my case I used Photoshop.

Daily 3x3, Tag 6/Day 6

check box to read this in ENGLISH

So sah also mein gestriger Tag aus. Also müssen Vorbereitungen getroffen werden:
- Möhren-Muffins backen
- die Windlichter fertigstellen
- aufräumen ;)
- ein bisschen Osterdeko zaubern

Ergebnisse gibts dann morgen wieder :)

Bis dann
♥Mone♥

My wrist still bothers me very much, especially because I look at 3 half sewn bags and a mobile, also half done. To get at least something done I startet playing around with this spontaneous idea I had have while cleaning the kitchen some days ago. The techniques needed for this craft I can perform left-handed, literally ;)
So today´s daily 3x3 mainly is about this:

©PanPanCrafts 2011
1. Veggie stuffed paprika for dinner. I´ll share the recipe here with you in a few days.
2. Half finished lights testing. Idea was to find a decorative recycling idea for baby-puree glases. Erik can eat puree since one week and so every day I end up with one or two empty glases, which I did not want to throw away (even if they are collected for reuse here in Germany). I wanted to give them a second, longer lasting life. The mixture of glue and varnish, with which the napkins were put on the glases, makes them waterproof, so the lights can be displayed outside, too.
3. It´s still alive! I have sewn this clothespin bag 3 years ago, of course without making a pattern first ;). Now it´s still doing its job here in Berlin and I still love the colors.
4. I made two of the bigger, orange colored lights, which will be presents for our hosts, because we have been invited to a barbecue at our friend´s tonight.
5. Found some preasures in my ribbon chest. Maybe one should take a look at this more often? I just still have no clue, what to do with this fantastic shoe-print ribbon? Any ideas?
6. The paprika, freshly and hot out of the oven. I cooked risotto as side dish, which was a complete failure. So it´s potatoes again next time ;)
7. What I love most about working from home is that I can take my supplies everywhere and even can work in the garden. One of the most beautifull workplaces in the world I think!
8. I used a kind of napkin technique for the baby puree glases. They´ll get whire handles and ribbons later today and will be sold at my shop. I thought of them being a cute gift idea, f.e. for Mother´s Day.
9. This young fella suddenly crash-landed directly besides my while I was glueing the glases outside in the garden. Was smashed on the window. But, fortunately, after ten minutes he/she hopped again and flew over on our shed´s  roof and from there over to the neighborhood´s gardens. So no bad injuries and everything fine. Lucky guy!

That was my yesterday. Today is Good Friday, as mentioned, we have been invited for a barbecue tonight and tomorrow Eriks sweet granny will come for a Easter vistit and stay for a week. So some preparations have to be done:

- bake a stuffed bread for tonight
- dye polkadot eggs; a good how-to for masked eggs in general  you can find over at  Martha Stewart´s
- bake carrot-cupcakes
- finish the baby glass lights and put them online for sale
- finish spring cleaning ;)
- decorate a little for Easter

The Results and pictures, of course, you will see here tomorrow :)

Love,
♥Mone♥

Daily 3x3, Tag 5/Day 5

check box to read this in ENGLISH

Autumn & Update / Herbst & Update

check box to read this in ENGLISH

1. Fly Agaric Mushroom - Toadstool as Lucky Charm, 2. Freestyle Converse, 3. **forest**, 4. 5. Japanese Maple, 6. Don't leaf me behind..., 7. KISS OF AUTUMN, 8. Pumpkins!, 9. A blanket of orange, red and yellow, 10. Autumn Leaves, Yellow and Brown, 11. Well....if nobody wants to play Conkers with me...I'll eat em instead...:O)))), 12. Autumn Light, 13. Pumpkin Pile14.

In diesem Sinne,
Mone

Late, but finally I developed some autumnly, cozy *put your woolen socks on* feelings. After having some wonderfull October days here in Berlin, of course today it has to rain, now, after I decided to take some photos outdoors. But that´s the way it goes, I guess ;). So I spent the morning  on Amazon, togehter with hubby searching for the last baby-stuff from our list and to search for nice, inspiring photos, using the keyword "autumn" (which in German means "Herbst") on Flickr. Here my findings collected in a little mosaic:
Not available15. Not available16. Not available
Despite of the rain I tried to get at least a few photos outside in our backyard, because for today I also had planned to make a new banner for this blog. That there actually is a new banner you surely already have noticed, so indeed I got a handfull of suitable shots, I somehow like the little sallowness there very much:
© by PanPanCrafts
Ok, enough seasonal talk, now lets see in short, what updates we have on this little cute blog: A few days ago by accident I clicked on the button for the new layout-editor on blogger and was happily surprised to see, that  they offer 3 collumned blogs now as well as a lot more new backrounds and options to customize your blog than before. And the best was: even the widgets, which I had to search and put back in after each change of layout manually, now are saved and automaticly put into the newly created layout. That´s how I like it!
So I played around a while, until I had created the layout you see here right now.

While checking it for any issues I remembered that I never had solved the error with the bilingual code in the old layout. Searching for it now cost me one evening, because I did not see the wood for the trees. The next morning I solved it quickly, because I had realized, that I had done everything correctly, so it only could be a typo within the source code. It was indeed: if you write "german" with two "e" things won´t work the way you want them to ;) But, as you can read this by now, you see, the code now works properly.
If you come across any other issues or errors on this blog, please let me know!

Thanks, Mone

It was a hard night

In this blog I did turn over to my non-crafty life before, and yes, I also did post a pic of one of one of my favorite musicians ever, whom I (and not only me) totally and absolutely adore. But I can´t stand it, I mus show you the newest pics *giggle*:

Yes, its Peter Tägtgren again, on Sunday night his band Hypocrisy opened their european "Long Time, No Death" Tour in Hamburg and we simply had to be there, we had no other choice :)
Want some more? ok, ok, here we go:

The gig was opened by 2 support acts, first were Drone:

(Drone)

Whom I really kinda liked, if they play nearby someday, I definitely will pay them a visit again!
The second support act were Survivors Zero, whom got the better critics after the both acts were done, but (sorry guys ;) ) personally I prefer it a little slower and with more depth and bass ;), but they weren´t that bad!

(Survivors Zero)

But at the end we were happy and had have a great, funny and (certainly) a completely lowbrow night at all, but that´s because we 3 girls cannot stand it and have to bugger around all the time ;).
So, if youre into Metal yourself, but aren´t sure about Hypocrisy I highly recommend them to you! For more (very serious) information, plus tour dates, check this out:

Followup: Recent work & random tales

I just reviewed the pictures I have taken over the last few weeks and saw, that 2 projects weren´t mentioned here so far.
But the most obvious thing I learned by sorting, reviewing and deleting unneded stuff, was, that since I work for Kodak´s digital support I have taken bazillions of pictures. Of course, because I work as a technical advisor for the support staff, I need to know the products around quiet well and if I´m honest, there is no better way to find out about digital photography and what functions you prefer. I can use all of the cams and learn, run tests and finally found out, which one I love most. I don´t need a reflex camera for my purposes, I think, for my needs the Z915 or Z950 are the chosen ones, while I guess, I´ll go for the first one. I defenitely love working in this job! :)

But back to OUR business ;) 2 months ago, my lovely mom in law had have her birthday. She dreams of having a special bed by IKEA, and since we cannot affort to buy it I decided to make a piggy bank as a gift at least. It´s dreaming of the one bed and wants to be feeded with money untill we can go back to this funiture store from heaven and buy it :)

It´s made of an air balloon and papermâché, the feet are made of egg-cartons, it´s painted and finally sprayed with clear varnish. The bedcap I sewed and taped it with 2sided carpet tape over one of the freehand modeled paper ears. An How To I will publish asap, it´s a funny thing, we made these in school when I was little and I remembered making these piggies was fun.

Now 2 pieces of random stuff...

1st: Finally A picture of me, which I actually like :):
It was taken at my bff´s birthday party (she is the left one). This was one of the first pictures after having the tonsils removed, not beeing able to eat afterwards for 2 weeks and then starting with WW, because I did not want to gain the allready lost pounds again. It´s pretty amazing, how obvious the lost of 26 pounds did change the face as well ;). So, I´m quiet happy about the result and (forgive me) a little bit proud of myself too. The aim is to loose another 12 pounds, just to reach a good BMI, and then I´m fine with it again :).

2nd: Lets do a little time-warp...
When I was 3 years old, one day my dad took me on a trip to the town (we lived in a small village back then). We went for shopping and so on. In front of a toy shop window I suddenly stucked and did not want to leave, because I had seen something, I wanted to have desperately. It was a little blue bunny with white trousers and a face made of rubber. These toys were some sort of modern back then in the GDR. After I had started to cry and acted up terribly for a while, my poor daddy saw no other choice than to buy the damned thing. I still remeber me schleping it the whole way home from the bus stop, holding it by it´s lugs. It was my best friend over many years. But years later I moved and somehow lost it. I searched all over, and finally... ok, it´s not HIM, my "Blauer" (this was his name, which means "blue one") had eyebrows I had painted with a ball pen, when I had have a flue aged 5; but I got his twinbrother at ebay:

Isn´t he adorable? Just think of how old he must be, they were produced back in the 70´s and 80´s. This one, I never, ever want to loose again, because, besides I still have some photos, it´s the only item I have to remind me of my childhood.

Ok, enough childhood memories, another crafty thing I sewed last month was this:

A tiny belt pouch. It´s that small, because only my cell phone and a locker key need to find place in there. I wanted to have one for the gym, since most of my sporty pants don´t have pockets. I need some music while running and lifting some weights and use the phone for this. It´s working well with the pouch, the inner lining is made of polar fleece, so the display of my nokia gets an extra polish each time:

Again, this was a complete "free style" pattern. I only decided, which fabric I wanted to use and the shape the pouch should have. The rest was fitted to the cell phone and to the last zipper I had on stock ;).

Ok, thats it for now, just let me check the pictures for the piggy bank how to and I´ll come back with that!

wishing you a wonderfull night,
Mone

a 6-months summary...

... or the "same old song", to quote anothor song title by another great band - PAIN this time... by the way: While HE was doing this: we were doing that ;)

Yes, it was... uhm, let´s say quite satisfiyng having this fantastic artist in front of us and playing all the good stuff. For those of you, who are not into Metal that much, there is talk of Peter Tägtgren, who had held court with his solo/side project PAIN two weeks ago at the Wacken Open Air. But this blog isn´t about Metal or music in general, so, if you´d like to see more pics of strange guys floundering in mud, defenitively drinking way too much alcohol (at least some of them ;) ) and having a good time over all, then, feel free to check my flickr for this years photographical loot or see, what I and my beloved pals uploaded to our myspace pages ;)

But, how did I get the "same old song" thingy in my mind? Just, because, it´s allways the same: I plan, I set a deadline only to myself, for getting things done, like the shop or the never ending updating-my-homepage-nightmare or, most annoying, finally getting my driver licence. But there´s allways something strange happening. And, in this case(s), it did again. No dramatic stuff almost, but enough to receive setbacks in all the mentioned points. Anyway, here I am, and here I go.

So lets resume the past months since my last post in more pics than words, not that you get bored by reading all that stuff ;)

1st: newly sewed things:

new mobile purses, the orange one was an order, the brown one I made for myself.

Another "FeKa", as a birthday present for Dani this time. Unfortunately I totally underestimated the hard conditions in Wacken, so both front buttons need to be re-sewed now :(

a non-sewed tablerunner - non gothic, non victorian, just spring-like ;):

A ready-made Opeth longsleve; the band´s logo on the front and logo plus quote from the song "To rid the disease" on the back, both prints made with Photoshop and transfer foil (the shirt I wear on this pic):

the back:

The quote says "I have lost all trust I had in you..."

2nd: new soaps:
from the top to the bottom: coffee, honey (1st try) and vanilla-cherry. And no: one should not eat them ;)

Coco-soap in progress back in march:

OK - more pics and news will be shared tomorow - I promise. But for now, that has to be enough, I need to sleep; the holidays are over :(...

Im so weekend

There is still nothing new to tell about the AC, I´m still waiting for our works council to confirm the "winner", from who we don´t know, who it will be or was. This is not an easy situation, because rumours are running wild in the company and I have a hard time not to listen and believe in them.

Meanwhile I took some pictures from my new decorated and completely changed room and finally decided to buy a new camera next year, because my nearly 6 years old Sony Cybershot definitively has seen her last days. Therefor I work for a big company which produces fine digital cameras I should know that a 3 times digital zoom, none optical zoom and the choice between only 3 scenemodes, without any opportunity to save any own modes does not make, what we today think is a good picture. but see yourself below ;). I tried my best to rescue some "quality" using Photoshop. The warm light comes from my lamps and candles, because these days it´s allways dark outside, when I come home from work.

The last days I was busy making some Jul decoration (yes, I still prefer to name it this way ;) ). First I made some cute paper houses after I had found the cute templates for them at flickr.

They are that much adorable, that I even made the pink coloured ones, although I don´t like pink thnings *g*.

Yesterday before playing a little WoW I decided, that I need to make a paper snowflake, which is based on a how to on cut out + keep.

This year I try to decorate the house without spending amounts of money, because buying that stuff ends in getting what everyone else who bought their decorations, have too. So I collected some pictures on Flickr and made some mosaics to fit in picture frames, revarnished some old stuff new in an antique looking white and hung baubles and lightchains on soon everything possible. (I even tried out on the cat, but she didn´t seem to like wearing little glittering stars)

But, before I forget, the most important: I had a fantastic weekend in Nuernberg, visiting some friends of the adorable WoW guild "Chaos", which I´m glad to be a (rare seen) member of. As I don´t know, how the other guys feel about posting pictures of them here, I just show an "after dinner" pic of me first:
Lygia, one of our hosts and by the way a really nice and cute witch and me (a not even less cute witch I hope) made a legendary meal inclouding franconian dumplings, mellow pork roast, one of the best sauces I ever tasted and salad. After dinner all of us were stunned, and this was the first time of my life I recognized that a meal can be a debuff (damned WoW slang ;) ).
We visited the famous "Christkindelsmarkt"
as well
and a restaurant called "Bratwurst Roeslein" where I had a marinated pot roast for the first time ever. The best thing was the sauce: a ginger bread sauce, from which I tried to guess the recipe by taste. I have to try it cooking myself!
We also visited the Nuernberg Castle and the historic town; Lygia and Babarus were fantastic and lovely hosts, I learnd a lot about myths and history of Nuernberg and, really, I had a great time! Thanx for that, my 2 sweethearts *hug*!

But now, let´s see, what my new room looks like at the moment.

It´s Thursday, the in many blogs I read the so called "Thankful Thursday" and the chance to live, like I can live my life now, after all the hard times, even without something to eat sometimes, definitively is some big thing, I´m really thankful for each day:

Here I sometimes sit and read, but most times my hubby or the cat sit there.

New locker, some space to store all the fabric and DIY books finally.

If you are a fan of IKEA, you might have noticed it: I love LIATORP

My Jul tree ;) formerly known as a black member of Ikea´s "Statist" family

I love white funiture and white, green, purple and grey as colour for decorations, so a white Amaryllis became a kind of consistent for the season. The heart was a finding in a local florist shop and was so cute (and cheap) that I bought 2 of them.

Working desk, sewing place and the place where the magic happens, if it´s happening ;)

Same desk, the other end: the PC´s place, if you´re talking to me via skype/ teamspeak or ICQ, when I´m writing for the blog or homepage or when we´re playing WoW together; thats exactly where I am. I choose a self arranged solution of Ikea´s "Galant" series in white for my room: my desk now is soon as long as my room and even goes round the corner, it also has a rounded cornor on one and a rack for the PC on the other end; plenty of space, that´s what I wanted and needed. ( btw remeber the heart?)

... and if we don´t talk or play, he takes care of the headset. It´s not ment in a blasphemic way, I´m not into Buddhism either. But I liked him, because he looks so peacefull and relaxed.

Just have to show you these cute mini- orchids, a really surprising present by the lovely Wudonia. I love them, allways wanted to have some; I just cant wait untill they reflorish! The cute rabbit-missy I found at Flickr, it´s drawn by the amazing talented leontine. The flying witch is a picture I drew some years ago.

Did I mention I play World of Warcraft? ;) That´s all that left of WoW related decoration, except the gameboxes itself and a wow mousepad; all maps are stored at the attic ;)

Thats all for today, lets see, what tomorrow will bring.

take care and merry meet again :)
